Privacy

How Fornop handles your data. This text is a placeholder.

Draft wording, not final. To be reviewed before launch.

What we store

Your name, your sign-in details, the things you post and your messages. Locations are rounded to an area before they are stored for display.

What others see

Your first name, your neighbourhood and the things you give away. Never your address or exact location.

Photos

We remove hidden location data (EXIF) from every photo you upload.

No tracking

No ad networks, no tracking cookies, no cookie banner. We never follow you around the web and we never sell or share your data. Questions or a request to delete your data: contact us.

Visit statistics

To see how Fornop is used, we count visits without cookies and without storing your IP address. We do not count you at all when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. For each page we keep the kind of page, the site that sent you, the country and city your network reports, your language, device type, browser and screen size, how long the page was open and how far you scrolled, the rough area (about 5 km) you look at on the map, and a code made from your IP address and browser with a secret that changes every day and is then deleted, so visits on different days can never be linked to each other or to you. When you are signed in, we use what you do on Fornop (things you post, want, pick up and chat about, and the days you visit) for totals such as how many members come back each week; we never record which pages you look at; we only count how many page views per hour come from signed-in members, without saying whose. Search words are counted without saying who searched, and anything that looks like an email address, phone number or link is not kept. Visit records are deleted after 90 days and activity records after 13 months; only totals are kept longer. Only the Fornop team can see these statistics.
